It is Saturday night. Two families stand at reception with the same reservation for the same room. One came from Booking.com, the other from Airbnb. Both are right.
Why double bookings happen
Almost never out of carelessness. They happen because availability lives in three, four, five different places: the Booking.com extranet, the Airbnb app, Expedia, the reception notebook, the phone. When a reservation comes in, someone has to run and close the date everywhere. If they are ten minutes late, or serving breakfast at that moment, the room is sold a second time.
The problem is not the person. The problem is that a person is doing the job a system should do.
What changes with one calendar
In Bookmatrix.com every reservation lands in one calendar, whatever channel it came from. When a room closes, from a booking or because you closed it by hand, availability updates on every channel by itself, in seconds. Booking.com, Airbnb, Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda, Vrbo, Google Hotels and more than 100 channels in total, through Channex.
- A Booking.com reservation closes the room on Airbnb automatically.
- A reservation from your own website closes the room everywhere.
- A price change goes to every channel from one place.
What you no longer have to do
Log in to each extranet separately. Write "closed Booking, must close Airbnb" in the notebook. Apologise to two families.
The calendar works as well on your phone as on the front-desk computer. Drag a stay to move it, tap it to see the guest, the balance and the documents.
And the setup?
We do it. Rooms, prices, channel connections, within 48 hours. Then we call you and walk you through it.
