Many hotels and rental rooms in Greece have an e-commerce agreement with Eurobank. The account is run by Worldline: that is where the Merchant ID, the payment page and the back office with your transactions come from.
The question we hear most is simple: "Can my PMS take a payment through Worldline and record it on the reservation by itself?" With Bookmatrix.com, yes. Here is how.
Eurobank and Worldline: who does what
Eurobank's card acceptance business is run by Worldline Greece. The agreement and the money stay with Eurobank, while the technical side belongs to Worldline: the secure payment page with 3-D Secure, the Merchant ID, the shared secret and e-commerce support. So when you connect software to Eurobank e-commerce, you are in practice connecting it to Worldline.
Why the payment must be tied to the PMS
Without a connection, the payment happens in one place and the reservation lives in another. Someone has to check the back office, match each transaction to a reservation and type it in. In summer, with dozens of bookings a day, that is where mistakes happen: deposits that do not show, guests who pay twice, options that expire although they were paid.
When the payment is connected to the PMS, every approved charge appears on the reservation with the amount, card type and approval code, and the balance updates at once.
How it works with Bookmatrix.com
- Deposit from the booking engine. When a rate asks for a prepayment, the guest books on the booking engine, lands on their reservation page and pays with Worldline.
- Payment link for any reservation. Also for bookings from Booking.com, Airbnb or the phone: add a payment link, choose Worldline and send it to the guest.
- Balance before arrival. The balance link works out the amount when it is opened, so the guest never pays twice.
- Worldline's secure page. The guest pays with Visa, Mastercard or Maestro, with 3-D Secure, in Greek or English. The card number never passes through you or us.
- Checked and recorded. Worldline signs every response with your shared secret. Bookmatrix.com checks the signature, the Merchant ID and the exact amount, and only then records the payment. An option turns confirmed and the guest gets a receipt by email.
From the same reservation you then issue the receipt or invoice to myDATA.
What you need
- An e-commerce agreement with Eurobank. If you do not have one, it starts at a Eurobank branch.
- A Merchant ID and shared secret from Worldline. Tell them your software provider is Bookmatrix.com, using the Redirect model.
- A Bookmatrix.com account. On the Worldline page you enter both values, test the connection (nothing is charged), make a test payment and turn payments on.
I already use Worldline with another booking engine
In most cases you keep the same account. Each payment sends Worldline its own return addresses, so the same Merchant ID can serve Bookmatrix.com too. What you need is the shared secret of that Merchant ID, which the back office shows masked. You ask Worldline e-commerce support for it, and we help you prepare the request.
Frequently asked questions
Which cards can guests use?
Visa, Mastercard and Maestro from any bank. American Express and Diners are not part of Eurobank e-commerce. IRIS and wallets depend on what Worldline enables on your account.
Can I only hold the amount?
Yes. With "Pre-authorise only" the card is not charged at once; you capture the amount later in the Worldline back office.
Can I refund from Bookmatrix.com?
Not yet. Refunds are done in the Worldline back office, where you also see every transaction.
What does it cost?
Card fees are agreed between you and Eurobank. Bookmatrix.com adds no fee of its own to Worldline payments; the connection is part of your plan.
